Refining Implicit Function Representations of 3-D Scenes

چکیده
This paper considers the problem of modelling a 3-D scene from calibrated images taken from multiple viewpoints. The initial 3-D information is acquired using probabilistic space carving which provides a voxel representation consistent with the given set of images. The scene is afterwards modelled as an implicit surface using radial basis functions (RBF). The mixture of multiorder basis functions models a smoothed 3-D scene representation while providing compactness. We use correspondences between pairs of image patches in order to update the RBF centres for improving the 3-D scene representation. The RBF centre updating leads to improving the consistency between the 3-D model and the given set of images. The proposed method is applied on a complex 3-D scene displaying various objects.

Implicit Meshes for Modeling and Reconstruction
Explicit surfaces, such as triangulations or wireframe models, have been extensively used to represent the deformable 3–D models that are used to fit 3–D point and 2–D silhouette data. The resulting approaches, however, suffer from the fact that fitting typically involves finding the facets that are closest to the 3–D data points or most likely to be silhouette facets. This requires searching, ...
متن کاملLinking Implicit and Explicit Memory: Common Encoding Factors and Shared Representations
Dissociations between implicit and explicit memory have featured prominently in theories of human memory. However, similarities between the two forms of memory have been less studied. One open question concerns whether implicit and explicit memory share encoding resources. To explore this question, we employed a subsequent memory design in which several novel scenes were repeated once during an...
متن کاملL2 Teachers’ Representations of Classroom Management Events: Variations across Experience Levels
Knowledge representation, defined as the way individuals structure their knowledge and cognitive processing of events and the associated sense-making processes, is believed to influence teachers’ reasoning/thinking skills. While extensively researched in mainstream teacher education, this line of inquiry is essentially lacking in the L2 teacher education literature. To fill some of the void, th...
متن کاملStrong convergence for variational inequalities and equilibrium problems and representations
We introduce an implicit method for nding a common element of the set of solutions of systems of equilibrium problems and the set of common xed points of a sequence of nonexpansive mappings and a representation of nonexpansive mappings. Then we prove the strong convergence of the proposed implicit schemes to the unique solution of a variational inequality, which is the optimality condition for ...
متن کاملSurvey of image-based representations and compression techniques
In this paper, we survey the techniques for image-based rendering (IBR) and for compressing image-based representations. Unlike traditional three-dimensional (3-D) computer graphics, in which 3-D geometry of the scene is known, IBR techniques render novel views directly from input images. IBR techniques can be classified into three categories according to how much geometric information is used:...
